ICUC Newsletter, March 23, 2023:
Today, as the first warm rays of spring sunshine pierce the lingering morning chill, the ICUC team in Calgary is bustling with activity, undeterred by the freezing temperatures. The last remnants of winter snow are melting away, revealing eager buds beneath, signaling a new beginning. Among those spearheading this day’s efforts are Mr. and Mrs. Liu, who drove in early to lend their hands at the ICUC volunteer site.
Arriving before ten in the morning, the Lius wasted no time getting down to business. Their mission: to meticulously divide large quantities of flour and sugar into smaller, manageable packages for distribution. It’s a simple yet crucial task, demanding precision and patience. The couple immersed themselves in the work, continuing nonstop from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., forgoing even a lunch break in their dedication.
In another section of the site, Xiao Hong and Grandma Liu Nan were just as committed, focusing their efforts on packaging various food seasonings. Mr. and Mrs. Liu, Xiao Hong, and Grandma Liu Nan are not just volunteers; they embody the spirit of ICUC, representing a larger community of selfless individuals. Their unwavering dedication and passion for helping others are what drive our mission forward, bringing essential care and warmth to those in need.
